6 Reasons to Visit Panama City Beach This Fall

When you think of Panama City Beach, FL what comes to mind? Probably visions of families enjoying the crystal clear water in the summer, or beach goers getting an early taste of summer over spring break. What comes to mind when you think of Panama City Beach in the fall? If you draw a blank, maybe it's time to experience the unexpected delights of Panama City Beach in the fall. Here are our top 6 reasons to visit Panama City Beach this fall.

6. Fewer Crowds

We were last in Panama City Beach in August and at one point on our trip, my introverted husband looked at me and said, "It's pretty people-y here now, huh?" With beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear water, it's no surprise that so many people flock to PCB in the summer season. The fall offers a unique opportunity to experience the same beaches and beautiful water without as many people.

5. Warm Temperatures into the Fall

The air temperature in Panama City Beach is quite warm even into the fall. The average temperature in September is 88 degrees, October is 81 degrees, and November is 73 degrees. We have eaten our Thanksgiving dinner outside at a beach front restaurant. It's a truly lovely and unique experience. One our family won't soon forget. As the air and Gulf temperatures begin to drop, the Dunes of Panama offers a heated swimming pool on property. This means you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Gulf year round, and relax in the pool if being in the water is your preference.

4. Fishing and Marine Life Migrations

Many fish and marine life are drawn to the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico in the summer. As the water cools off, it attracts different fish and marine life. If you're interested in fishing, the fall presents a chance to catch flounder, tarpon, and Spanish mackerel. While rare, there are some whales that migrate through the Gulf of Mexico in the colder months. We have also found that rays travel through the Gulf in the fall and spring - often delightfully close to shore. It is such a joy to watch them in large groups from the balcony of the Joy Coastal condo. This is a video of cow nose rays we took from the County Pier near Pier Park last November.

3. Unprecedented Flexibility and Remote-ability

You don't need me to tell you that 2020 has brought with it unprecedented times. This is a year that we will certainly remember throughout the rest of our lives. For many, it has also created a level of flexibility in work locations and school patterns unlike anything we have experienced before. This is an opportunity we may not get again to work remotely and travel during during the school year. Why not take advantage of it now?

2. Football Season at the Beach

The only thing better than watching a football game from a recliner on a gorgeous fall day might be watching a football game from a recliner on a gorgeous fall day WITH THE GULF OF MEXICO IN THE BACKGROUND.

If a sports bar is more your style, Panama City Beach has several great options including Pineapple Willy's, Beef O'Brady's, Christo's and SandBar. Even football is better at the beach.

1. Reduced Rates

Generally speaking, prices are lower for lodging in the shoulder season. This fall, we are offering a 10% discount on weekly rentals at the Joy Coastal condo. This means that you can enjoy the beauty of the beach with fewer crowds and temperate weather well into the fall. What more could you ask for this fall? You can check rates and availability here.

Our monthly rates are also reduced for snow birds in December, January and February. This is a great way to do a trial run if you want to explore retiring at the beach. If you'd like more information about rates for snowbirds this winter, drop us a note here.
